Visa flight reservations are paused
Ordering is temporarily paused while we connect live airline inventory. Flight search works as usual.
How a Flight Reservation Works
A reservation is a booking held in the airline's system under your name. Reservations are created through Duffel's airline API. Consulates differ in whether and how they check it.
We Hold a Booking
Instead of paying for the full ticket, a booking is held with the airline for a limited time without ticketing.
You Get the Booking Code
You receive a PDF itinerary showing the 6-character booking reference (PNR), flights and passenger names.
You Add It to Your File
You submit the itinerary with your application. A consulate may look the booking up while the hold is active; the visa decision rests on your whole file.
Never submit a forged ticket.
Use a real booking.
Submitting a forged or edited ticket is visa fraud and can lead to refusal and a record in the Schengen Visa Information System. A held reservation is a real booking in the airline's system. If the consulate rejects the reservation itself, our refund policy (Terms, section 5) applies.

Why buy a full ticket before the visa decision?
A visa reservation costs from $14
A flight reservation meets the travel-itinerary item on many visa checklists (e.g. Schengen, Regulation (EC) 810/2009 Annex II). Requirements vary by consulate, so check yours. A reservation means you do not have to buy a non-refundable ticket before the visa decision.
Common Questions
What is a flight reservation (PNR)?
A PNR (Passenger Name Record) is the booking record in an airline reservation system, identified by a six-character code. A held reservation shows a planned itinerary in your name without the full ticket being paid.
Will a consulate accept a flight reservation for my visa?
A flight reservation meets the travel-itinerary item on many visa checklists (e.g. Schengen, Regulation (EC) 810/2009 Annex II). Requirements vary by consulate, so check yours. Some consulates ask for a paid ticket or other documents, and no service can guarantee acceptance.
Can I order a flight reservation right now?
Not at the moment. Ordering is temporarily paused while we connect live airline inventory, so we do not take payments or passenger details. Flight search works as usual, and this page will say when ordering reopens.
How long is the reservation valid?
The Solo plan is held for up to 48 hours and the Complete and Pro plans for up to 72 hours. In rare cases an airline cancels a hold earlier; our refund policy in the Terms (section 5) covers that.
What happens after my visa is approved?
You buy the actual ticket on any airline or booking site you like. The reservation is separate from the final ticket and does not oblige you to buy that flight.
What if the consulate does not accept the reservation?
Our refund policy (Terms, section 5) gives a full refund when the consulate rejects the reservation itself and you send us the documentation. It does not cover a visa refused for other reasons.
